Pennsylvania State University、Stephan C. Schuster博士によるセミナーを開催しました。
演題: 「African Genomes: Charting Human Diversity」

今回のセミナーでは、狩猟民族５人の全ゲノムを、次世代シークエンス技術を用いてアッセンブルから行った事例を、現行次世代シークエンサーのデータ特徴を踏まえ、お話下さいました。また、５人の全ゲノムシークエンスとヨーロッパ等、既知のゲノム情報の比較から民族のルーツまでを考えた講演内容でした。
参加した留学生の感想です。
- The seminar was very interesting that the research group is looking for the origin of humans where they have come to realize the significance of personalized genetic database. The current pharmaceutical and medical studies have been highly based on Europeans, however, it is very important that we, scientists, become aware of genetic differences based on ethnic diversity during the development and discovery of new therapeutics.
